How to find us
BY TRAIN: Bristol City's two main stations are Temple Meads in the centre of Bristol and Parkway on he city's northern outskirts. The journey from Temple Meads to Southmead Hospital (by taxi) should take between 25 and 35 minutes, and from Parkway 10-15 minutes. For National Rail Information, tel: 08457 484950. There is also a bus service which operates between both stations and Southmead Hospital. BY CAR - MOTORWAY - From the M4 - (from London): Leave the motorway at junction 19 and this will take you on to the M32 (to Bristol). Almost immediately, leave the M32 at Junction 1. Take right-hand lane and follow signs for A4174, sign-posted to Parkway Station and Filton. Staying on the A4174, proceed along the dual carriageway (ignore sign to Stoke Park Hospital). At the traffic-light- controlled roundabout (Ministry of Defence on your left, Sainsburys on your right), continue to follow the signs for the A4174. Continue along the dual carriageway, passing through two sets of traffic lights. At the approach to Filton roundabout at the top of the hill, take left-hand lane to join the A38 into central Bristol. Continue along A38, passing Filton Police Station on the left and petrol station on the right. Proceed across the small roundabout where there are shops and pass Monks Park School on your right. At the approach to the traffic lights at Monks Park, take the right-hand lane to turn into Monks Park Avenue. Southmead Hospital is approximately a quarter of a mile along the road, on the left-hand side. The entrance has an automatic barrier.

From the M5: Leave the motorway at Junction 16 (on the interchange) and join the A38 going south into Bristol. Proceed along the A38 as outlined below*.

From the M4 - (from South Wales): At the Almondsbury Interchange (Junction 20), join the M5 motorway (signposted South West) and at Junction 16 (on the interchange), leave the motorway and follow the signs for the A38 south to Bristol. *Proceed along the A38 (dual carriageway - 40 mph limit), straight across at the next large roundabout and follow the signs to Filton, passing the aircraft runway on your right and Filton College on your left. At the top of the hill, go straight across at the Filton roundabout. Continue along A38, passing Filton Police Station on the left and petrol station on the right. Proceed across small roundabout where there are shops and pass Monks Park School on your right. At the approach to the traffic lights at Monks Park, take right-hand lane to turn into Monks Park Avenue. Southmead Hospital is approximately a quarter of a mile along the road, on the left-hand side. The entrance has an automatic barrier.

BY CAR - ALL OTHER ROUTES: From the centre of Bristol, i.e. the main Broadmead, Haymarket roundabout - join the A38 North (to Gloucester). Proceed along the A38 for approximately 3 miles (Stokes Croft, Cheltenham Road and Gloucester Road) to Horfield. After passing Horfield Sports Centre (on left), turn left at next set of traffic lights into Monks Park Avenue. Southmead Hospital is approximately a quarter of a mile along the road, on the left-hand side. The entrance has an automatic barrier.

BY AIR:  There is a regular coach service which operates between Bristol International Airport and Bristol Bus Station:  The Airport Express, service 331, operates every 30 minutes from 6.15 am to 11.45 pm each day.   A single journey costs £5.00 (pay driver)  – Tel:  0870 608 2 608 for more information. To travel by bus from the Bus Station to Southmead Hospital, use either the 76 or 77 service, both of which stop outside the hospital on Monks Park Avenue.   Alternatively, a taxi from the Airport direct to Southmead Hospital will cost approximately £25 each way.  Checker Cars can be contacted on Tel:  01275 475000 or visit www.checkercars.com
