Gynaecological Cytology Courses (ThinPrep)

All courses for Biomedical Scientists are IBMS accredited and NAC credits are available on request.

 

INTRODUCTORY COURSE IN GYNAECOLOGICAL CYTOLOGY

This four week course is intended for Biomedical Scientists and Trainee Cytoscreeners employed by an NHS Laboratory who are undertaking the NHSCSP Training in Cervical Cytology, and includes 5 days of follow up training. The course is designed as an introduction to cervical cytology and the art of screening. The syllabus will follow that approved by the NHSCSP and will contain a minimum of 80 hours microscopy time.

Course tutors will be Mrs Helen Burrell and Mrs Helen Hoskins.

The four weeks are split into two blocks of two weeks. Dates are:

1 DAY UPDATE IN CERVICAL CYTOLOGY FOR PATHOLOGISTS, CONSULTANT BMS'S AND HOLDERS OF THE ADVANCED SPECIALIST DIPLOMA IN CERVICAL CYTOLOGY

20 November 2024 Fee: £100.

ONE DAY UPDATE COURSES IN CERVICAL CYTOLOGY

This one day course in gynaecological cytology provides an opportunity for qualified staff to update their knowledge of the subject. Staff will be updated on current developments within the Cervical Screening Programme, and will be able to see a range of interesting and challenging cytology workshops to refresh and consolidate their interpretational skills. Informal discussion is encouraged along with self assessment and peer group review of cases.
